Telemedicine

If you are currently experiencing an eye emergency or urgency that needs to be addressed soon, and you are unable (or due to recent COVID-19 recommendations) are uncomfortable coming into our office to see the doctor in person, we at Spring Klein Vision Center have set up a HIPAA compliant platform in which either Lauren Nelson, OD or David Way, OD can visit with you and tend to your needs via a webcam meeting. This platform is private, HIPAA compliant and safe and easy to use. You will NOT be required to download any new apps or software, and you will not need to learn any new programs.

You will need a good and reliable internet connection, and you will need to be using either the Firefox or Google Chrome web browsers to make the visit run smoothly. Also, you will need a device that has a well functioning camera and microphone for this visit.

In order to request a visit like this we ask that you do one of the following:

1)During normal business hours it is best to call our office at 281-370-4444 to start a telemedicine visit.

2)You can also email us at the following addresses but please understand that after normal business hours these emails may not be seen until the next business day:

kimberly@springkleinvision.com
drway@springkleinvision.com
drnelson@springkleinvision.com

3)If it is after normal business hours and you need immediate attention then please call our ON-CALL pager number to contact the doctor on call. Please leave a voice message. Please speak slowly and clearly and please leave both your email address and your contact phone number.

On-call doctor number: 281-267-6789

Payment for these visits should be covered by your medical insurance (BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Medicare, etc). It will not be covered by your routine vision insurance plans (VSP, Cigna Vision, Aetna Vision, Eyemed, Davis Vision, Spectera, Superior Vision etc). We are participating providers for all of these insurances but please call ahead of time with any questions.

Your normal copay for the visit will apply; our staff will try to verify your benefits and collect copayment via phone call prior to your telemedicine visit with the doctor.

Please understand that the purpose of telemedicine eye health visits is to treat eye problems such as eye pain, eye infection, suddenly blurred vision, itching eyes, watery eyes, burning eyes, eye injuries and abrasions, along with other acute eye problems. This telemedicine platform will not allow us to perform vision rechecks, update glasses or update contact lens prescriptions as online virtual vision checks are very unsafe and unreliable at this time. For patients who need an extension on glasses or contact lens prescriptions please simply call our office at 281-370-4444.

We certainly hope that this new Telemedicine option will aid any of you needing Dr Way or Dr Nelson’s attention during this difficult time for our country

Best Regards and Good Health To Your Family,

David Way, OD
Lauren Nelson, OD
